Turbo (AIAA 2026)
Turbo is a fixed wing heavy lift aircraft built for passenger missions and banner towing. Turbo has a 5ft wingspan and maximum speed of 25 m/s. Built fully out of carbon fiber, each half of Turbo is a single carbon layup.
The Technical Branch completes the original goal of the team, to develop a physical drone for student competitions. Our competition portfolio changes from year to year. In the past we have competed in SAE Aero, AEAC and AIAA. This year we will return to SAE Aero and build a competition winning aircraft for the advanced category. The Technical branch follows the aircraft design cycle from end to end including aerodynamic design, carbon layups, custom electronics and software.
QADT’s history runs deep, we have competed at student competitions for over two decades. Below are designs from only the most recent years although many more aircraft have been designed prior to 2025.

Crush is a heavy lift quadcopter designed for fire suppression. Using a water dispenser attachment Crush is capable of autonomously delivering up to 1 Liter of water on fire sources. Powered by three custom 6S 2P batteries crush and a custom PDB crush is capable of producing up to 10 Kg of thrust.
Stingray is a fixed wing surveillance aircraft built for fire detection. With a range of 45 km Stingray and max speed of 60 km/h it was designed for endurance. The design features an inverted V tail, retractable landing gear and detachable wings.
