Aero School

About

Aero School is QADT’s educational program. Originally started as a method to help members develop their technical skills, Aero School has grown to encompass outreach events in the Kingston community, flight school and partnerships with the Smith Engineering Faculty.

Our Programs

Flight School

Flight School is our brand new Aero School program that trains prospective pilots how to fly drones. Our aim is to take students from zero to highly competent pilots who are prepared to take their advanced flight review. Along the way we prepare students to take the basic and advanced flight exams through technical lectures covering meteorology, aviation laws and practices and basic done operation.

Professional Development

QADT offers students resume reviews and interview prep so that every student can confidently land internships and jobs post grad. This year we have planned resume review sessions with industry recruiters that can give insight to the recruiting process. We also offer panel style interview prep throughout the year to get students ready for the job hunt!

Lecture Series

Aero School initially started as a lecture series for students to teach students technical concepts.

Academic Partnerships

QADT is proud of its partnership with the Smith Engineering Applied Science Courses. Last year the team offered the most sought after project in the APSC 103 series and we will aim to do the same this year. QADT will offer three projects this year, a UAV launcher, a modular payload attachment and a hot swap backup power system.
